Chocolate drizzled popcorn
Ingredients:
-
1/2 cup popcorn kernels
-
2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for popping)
-
1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or dark/milk chocolate chips if preferred)
-
1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)
-
1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for a touch of saltiness)
-
1/4 cup crushed nuts (e.g., almonds, peanuts) or sprinkles (optional, for garnish)
Instructions:
-
Pop the popcorn:
-
In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.
-
Add a few popcorn kernels to the pot. When they pop, add the rest of the kernels.
-
Cover the pot with a lid and shake it occasionally to prevent burning. Continue until the popping slows down.
-
Remove from heat and transfer the popcorn to a large bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.
-
-
Prepare the chocolate:
-
In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stove.
-
-
Drizzle the popcorn:
-
Spread the popped popcorn in an even layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
-
Using a spoon or a piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate over the popcorn in a zigzag pattern.
-
If desired, sprinkle sea salt and/or crushed nuts or sprinkles over the chocolate while it is still wet.
-
-
Set the chocolate:
-
Allow the chocolate to set and harden. You can speed up this process by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.
-
-
Break and serve:
-
Once the chocolate has hardened, break the popcorn into clusters. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to one week.
-
Enjoy your delicious chocolate-drizzled popcorn as a sweet treat or party snack.
