Chocolate drizzled popcorn

Chocolate drizzled popcorn

Ingredients:

  • 1/2 cup popcorn kernels

  • 2 tablespoons vegetable oil (for popping)

  • 1 cup semisweet chocolate chips (or dark/milk chocolate chips if preferred)

  • 1 tablespoon coconut oil (optional, for smoother chocolate)

  • 1/4 teaspoon sea salt (optional, for a touch of saltiness)

  • 1/4 cup crushed nuts (e.g., almonds, peanuts) or sprinkles (optional, for garnish)

Instructions:

  1. Pop the popcorn:

    • In a large pot, heat the vegetable oil over medium-high heat.

    • Add a few popcorn kernels to the pot. When they pop, add the rest of the kernels.

    • Cover the pot with a lid and shake it occasionally to prevent burning. Continue until the popping slows down.

    • Remove from heat and transfer the popcorn to a large bowl. Remove any unpopped kernels.

  2. Prepare the chocolate:

    • In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the chocolate chips and coconut oil (if using). Microwave in 30-second intervals, stirring after each interval, until the chocolate is completely melted and smooth. Alternatively, you can melt the chocolate using a double boiler on the stove.

  3. Drizzle the popcorn:

    • Spread the popped popcorn in an even layer on a parchment-lined baking sheet.

    • Using a spoon or a piping bag, drizzle the melted chocolate over the popcorn in a zigzag pattern.

    • If desired, sprinkle sea salt and/or crushed nuts or sprinkles over the chocolate while it is still wet.

  4. Set the chocolate:

    • Allow the chocolate to set and harden. You can speed up this process by placing the baking sheet in the refrigerator for about 15-20 minutes.

  5. Break and serve:

    • Once the chocolate has hardened, break the popcorn into clusters. Serve immediately or store in an airtight container for up to one week.

Enjoy your delicious chocolate-drizzled popcorn as a sweet treat or party snack.
